The U.S. Department of Commerce awarded a $1.3 million grant to the village to install a 21,000-foot water pipeline designed to bolster the city's manufacturing, warehousing and distribution industries. The project is expected to create 3,000 jobs, according to grantee estimates, the department said in a news release. According to the Department's Economic Development Administration, the jobs are considered long-term and will be found in Central New Mexico Rail Park in Los Lunas. The projection does not include temporary construction jobs.
